Viajes Carrefour, Halcón Viajes, B Travel, Zafiro Tours and Nautalia, the five big brands that have competed in recent years in attracting franchises, will have to face each other starting this year with two new actors, which could lead to in an intense commercial war to retain or attract points of sale (Pangea opens its first franchise: this is the new premium store).
And the emergence of two renowned brands, such as Azul Marino and Pangea (through Pangea Premium Partners) is not a trivial matter. Both companies are decisively committed to a very profitable business that allows rapid expansion with little investment (W2M focuses on a business dominated by Ávoris and Carrefour).
Currently, Viajes Carrefour, Halcón Viajes and B Travel, the latter two belonging to Ávoris, clearly dominate, each of them accumulating several hundred franchisees, about 400 in the case of the first.
Azul Marino, due to its profile, could be the biggest threat to groups with a presence in this business. World2Meet (W2M), its parent company, aspires to give a significant boost to its network, currently very focused on the northern area of Spain due to the acquisition of Viajes Eroski (Azul Marino absorbs Viajes Eroski).
To grow in this market, the group has recently been reinforced with Manuel Millán, a professional with extensive experience as franchise director, a position from which he will lead the expansion of this line of business.
Pangea, for its part, has broken into this market niche while maintaining its premium approach. Its aim is to “have the best travel agency in each city”, ruling out the massive incorporation of points of sale.
The company, which will exploit this formula under the Pangea Premium Partners brand, chose Valladolid to open what is the first agency operated by a third party. This is Tempo Tours, a company owned by Pablo Parrilla, who in turn has joined the Pangea staff as manager of the new division (A former Ávoris will lead Pangea's franchise business).
Of the big players in the market, only one resists entering the franchise or associate model. It is precisely the number one in sales in the country, Viajes El Corte Inglés, owner of more than 500 agencies spread throughout the national territory.
