Franchises of Spain
The jewelry and watch retail market closed 2024 with a value of €2.02 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, according to the DBK sector report. “This performance confirms the positive trend that began in 2022, when business grew by 16.7%, followed by an 8.6% increase in 2023.”
The sector's dynamism “has been driven by strong demand, in a context of improved private consumption, and by the continued upward trend in prices.”
Provisional data for the end of 2025 point to market growth of around 6%, reaching €2.135 billion.
By distribution channel, specialized chains consolidated their leadership, with nearly 60% of the market and estimated sales of €1.21 billion, a 6.6% increase. Independent retailers saw their market share decline to 19.1%, with €385 million in sales, while large retailers and other channels reached 21.0%.
By product category, jewelry and costume jewelry accounted for 56% of sales, while watches represented 39%. The remaining products, primarily silverware and accessories, made up 5%.
Jewelry: Towards Concentration
The supply structure continues to be marked by the progressive reduction in the number of small, independent retailers. “This is only partially offset by the growth of chain stores.”
At the end of 2024, there were approximately 8,700 specialized points of sale operating in Spain, “a figure that continues its downward trend.” In addition to physical stores, there is a growing number of specialized online retailers, as well as sales through large retail chains.
The size of the major players indicates a significant degree of concentration in the sector. From this point on, the top five competitors captured 43% of the market in 2024, while the top ten reached 57%.
